1. What is Orangewood
Children’s Home?
Orangewood Children’s Home is a county-run emergency
shelter for children who are removed from their caretakers
and taken into protective custody in Orange County. Children
are generally taken to the Home by child protective service
workers or police officers. The age range is two days to
18 years of age.

2. What’s
the difference between the Home and the Foundation?
Orangewood Children’s Foundation (a private 501c3
organization) was initially founded to raise money to build
the Orangewood Children’s Home, a replacement emergency
shelter for Orange County’s abused, neglected and
abandoned children. Orangewood Children’s Home was
dedicated in 1985, at which time was deeded to the County
of Orange who continues to provide a refuge for our vulnerable
children.
Since then Orangewood Children’s Foundation
has turned its attention to serving the ongoing needs of
these children with programs designed to break the generational
cycle of abuse. For those who unfortunately must enter Orange
County’s foster care system, we have developed programs
to help children survive and thrive, in spite of the challenges
that brought them into protective care. Orangewood Children’s
Foundation remains committed to this tremendous goal.
